I got a good one for you guys because I've never seen this before, but the water in the black Camaro looks like dish soap. There's mostly water in the cooling system as I've been trying to track down a leak. My initial thoughts to the soapy look is either

1) Combustion gasses are some how getting in the cooling system,

2) There's a lot of air trapped in the system or

3) Someone literally stuck dish soap in the cooling system.

Thoughts? Car runs fine and doesn't over heat. I've confirmed the temperature the gauge is reading is in line with the temperature of the water. Pic to show you what I mean. The disappearing water/soapy water is the last major issue to fix to make the car mechanically sound.

 

What kind of water is in there, from the tap or distilled? If city tap water, that could just be a reaction from the chlorine, etc.

 

pressure test the cooling system. maybe start it too and see if pressure raises quickly

 

could be some old antifreeze just gunked up its green

 

It's drinking water. Same water I use in my red one and same water we use in Satellite, and neither have done this. Pressure test will be the next step but won't get done till next week as leave for vacation Monday. I thought maybe there was a clog or mixture of antifreeze some where, but all hoses, radiator, heater core run clear water, though, the block may still have some coolant left in it.

 

is that you new car you bought ,the old radiator ,i had done that .flushed it ,ran the hose through it ,wich is not supposed to be done anymore epa.then when i put anti freeze back in it ,few thousand later gunk ,what happens is the gunk just stays in there ,then when it gets hot cycleing the water through couse any gunk to come unstuck ,i had nothing but water comeing out ,i was told you never get it all out of a an old one ,new radiator is like $89.00 ,i found to flush the overflow bottle is good to couse it gets in there to ,only way to do the overflow right was to take it out ,,then what happen couse i did not flush the heater core too ,it went ,then my water pump too

 

so i had non--pre-mixed bottle of coolant with half its contents and I added water to it from a garden hose that had one of the "guns" on it and thats what the resulting mixture looked like. almost exactly. might having nothing to do with your situation but food for thought.

 

So did a pressure test today. Cold the pressure dropped <1psi in a half hour. However, if I pumped up the system to 18psi and ran the car with the throttle around 2k-2500k rpms, the pressure in the system goes up to around 28psi !

Based off this, is it safe to say combustion gases are getting into the cooling system? There is no coolant in the oil, so I know I'm good there. Prior to me owning the car, it would spit coolant out of the radiator cap, but it has yet to do it with me and it did not do it while pressure testing the system.

 

The combination of aerated water and a increased pressure when reving to motor indicates a blown head gasket. Next step would be pulling the plugs and looking for a really clean one.
