Default water leak

Just trying to diagnose a water leak. its not coming from the water pump but the part the pump is mounted to. Its leaking where that part is mounted on the block. I believe the timing chain is under it. How big of a job is this?? i am trying to make this motor last about a year longer before a rebuild. Its a 94 3.4 litre. It has approx 250K miles. its not an every day driver.

Thanks for the advice in advance.

sounds like its the timing cover gasket look here and see if it helps. https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02...03/#post665343 also can download a service manual with this info here click 94fb https://www.mediafire.com/?40mfgeoe4ctti

I have an 02 3.8L with a blown head gasket and in the process of dismantling it.. I just removed the water pump on mine exposing the area where you are likely going to have to get to. It took me, a total noob at this stuff, about 6 hours to get everything removed to be able to access the water pump. It might be a little bit different for you having the 3.4L but for the most part I found it to be pretty easy just time consuming. Im also labelling every single part, every bolt, every part of the wiring harness, and every location where something was disconnected from.. which is likely making my job much longer. Best of luck.

craby,

that helps alot...according to the diagram, the part thats leaking is called the front cover. gonna need a gasket and a crank oil seal. i am going to try and remove the 2 bolts in question and dip them in hi-temp RTV first and see if that works, but i am not expecting any miracles. a huge thanks!!
