tools needed to remove rear end
Since pick and pull is having a half off sale I figure now is as good a time as any to go pull a "new to me" rear. What size sockets will I need? Is everything standard or are some of the bolts metric, is it a mixture of both? I don't want to get there and not have the right size socket.

I'd have every socket/wrench from 8mm-19mm and 1/4in to 7/8in. Shouldn't need anything smaller or bigger than that. A good pair of cutting sheers too in case you gotta cut something.
Take off shocks, lower control arms, torque arm, drive shaft, calipers, center brake hose. Can't think of anything else you gotta take off.

Depends on what year rear. 93-97 had the parking brake incorporated into the caliper 98-02 the parking brake was a separate unit within the rotor. As far as I know the master cylinder is the same. You will need the rear hoses for the calipers for whatever year rear it is. You will have to make new steel lines that run across the axle as well. That part is not hard though. Find out what year rear it is and then buy all the rear brake components for that year unless the one's on it are still good. Parking brake cables may be different. I can check tomorrow.

Ok, so it sounds like the only "real" difference is the brake lines.
My car is a 94, if I went with a rear from a 93-97 would my brakes lines fit? Same question for 98-02.
If I can I just want to take the rear and everything I need from the donor car and bolt it in and go. If I take the lines from the donor car do I have to take them all the way up to the front of the car?

no. but you may need to adapt the connection for the rubber brake line between the body and the rear end. i think if you can get the line off the newer style it will work.

i would take everything i could. unhook the brake line, its on the driver side in front of the left rear wheel area. best to take the e brake cables including the collector. take the sway bar and mounts too. http://shbox.com/1/brake_pipes.jpg
