I been thinking about bigger tires but starting in back ,with a set 315 35 17 ,an keep my 255 40 17 in front ,I wonder how that would work out ,I can get a set for like $300,00 for 2 MT street comp with my falkens ,I been thinking about putting bigger ones in back mostly taller ,any got some better ideas I think this would be an inch higher an make the car look more race like ,thanks

the 315 35 17 is 26 inch hight so its good for stock tire hight. 255 40 17 i believe is a tad shorter which is kool for the front. i used 245 45 17 with 315 35's and it worked great. just got new wheels and switched to a 9.5 in wheel in front with 275 40 tire. we will see how it works out on the drive side. seems good so far.

315 represents the width of the tire in mm

35 represents the % of the height of the sidewall measured agaisnt treadwidth and thus, 35% of the 315mm

17 represents the inner diameter or wheel height and thus 17 inches

to get total height you take the sidewall height times 2 and add the inner diameter or in your case 2(.35x315) then convert that to inches and add to the 17 inch inner diameter and you get tire height

ahh yes thank you those converters they have now I can use too, theres not much price difference from 285 to 315 ,the 275 would be ok I guess an would give me about 0.65 so I would think I will get about inch ,I deal with mm but only with the gems like 10x8mm stone standard size ,I know I had the 35 on there one time or wider tire one down fall is less miles even with out burn outs I do remember only getting 14.000 after about 4 burn outs the wider tires wear out faster was why at the time I went back but if I drive easy I should get 20.000 or more if I rotate them side it side ok the difference in inches would be 2.4 inchs wider an 0.70 taller I don't know if I want then that wide .How far past the fender do yours stick out craby only difference is the wider tires I see why guys like the 275 I may look at the 315 35 17 2,4 inches wider I got to say this new way of coverting tires still makes no sence to me ,from the old 30 40 50 60 70,the 275 is has less Diametor ,so the 315 35 17 may be the one

found MT street comp shipped free $307.00 a set of 2 315 35 17 with 102 w weight index speed 168mph , if I go with 275 I might well go all the way around, but with these then I got 2 extras for the front next time I need rears, when the sale was happening I could have got them for 257,00 a set for the mt that's not bad, ebay will have $50 instant rebate now an then wich is 100.00 on those so around $500.00 for a set of 4 I would have them 2 sets for front 2 for the rear ,I will see if I can find a better price probley not,$607.00 for 4 tires ,there probley a few years old though, only one other comes close at $700,00 for 4,i will wait for the next sale then try the mt street comp ,most are $900.00 or more for 4 .so 2 inches more they stick out pretty good I would think that a racey look ,I think what you said craby would be best ,thank you both guys torque is good ,I am getting to know them better now its still weird hehehe

I know it sounds silly but the best time to look for tires is when you don't need them just yet.

I don't know if they are a sponsor or not but,

the best luck I've had is discounttiredirect.com and always via Ebay, not their web site. Several times per year Ebay has a Paypal "coupon" saving $50 or $100 on a tire order over $400

Discount tire is always free shipping and no sales tax so I buy for all of my cars from them and the last time I needed tires for the Maro I got a set of qty 4 Sumitomo HTR-A/S 275x40x17 for around $300 to my door after the PayPal coupon.

They are not "summer tires" and wear well.

In case you haven't figured it out by my posts, I'm always looking for a bargain, I hate over-paying.

yes me too ebay an if you buy them in sets of 2 they allow you to buy up to 3 sets of 4 0r 2 ,so that adds about 100.00 if you buy them that way ,yes it was 307.00 for a set of 2 An 50.00 of each would make them around $500.00 for 4 is a deal even if there 2 years old
