I'm looking at buying a 4th gen as well.

What are the common rust areas on these?

The third gens had the problem of the plastic vent tabs breaking and sagging letting water in and rusting out the floors - Is this an issue with the 4th gens?

no but the floor is the first place to get an idea. under the rear seats and under the carpet in the hole/t top area in the back are good spots to look.

yup floors an lower control arms on my 99 were toast had to replace them ,patch 4 holes an spray the whole underside of the car ,one thing that was good was the rest of the car was solid engine cooling an new AC ,but yes take a jack with you if needed they sit so low ,an mine had the ground effects makes it very hard to see under the car

I came across a 99 SS in silver(color I'm looking for) with 19K miles, yeah that's right. Its a 6speed and is part of some ones collection. They are asking 16K <---the guy said he would work with me on the price(I haven't called him back) to see what number we agree on. The car is in Florida which is about six hours away.

I know I'll get what I pay for but.....

in order for it to keep its value you will not want to drive it.

Well....guys I found the camaro I looking for. Its a 01 silver SS 6sp. Very nice looking and driving. It has a few goodies like LS6 intake,SLP lid,SLP long tube headers and Y pipe(3'' and pretty low) into borla exhaust and 4 hole tips.

I dont like them so they will be going. I'll be looking into center exhaust tips. The first Camaro I looked at had the center tips and I love the way they look. Other then that the car doesn't need anything,O It needs window tint.
It also has a Diablo tuner that was setup by how ever did the exhaust. The guy I bought the car from seemed very knowledgeable on camaro.

So...I'll get it taged and insured and I'll be kicking it in the ***. I'll be heading to my friends shop and seeing what I can figure out how to tuck the exhaust so I can lower it,its stock hight.

sounds nice post some pics i dont like borla either magna flow is nice ,i want either from 98 to 02 ss, myself 02 le1 preffabley, but i think one can save alot by findeing a nice 99 00 01 02 ss in red or burgandy mabey white .is the color i want then they sell the le1 stripe kit for like $300.00 i guess one could say there bit over priced ,couse i am pretty sure they dont have alot more then that of most SS cars ,i am thinking about going that way in the next few years ,an haveing just one 4th gen ,an some thought to a desent 2 gen like 1972 73 74,when the time comes,i dont want to spend more then 10k an get a desent 40 50k miles car ,i seen a few of them out there ,i actually prefur the one that had a fender bender ,i had seen one was fixed like new had 42k ,an sold for 5k 2001 ss red back in the spring on ebay ,an the accident was just the drivers fender ,an accident no matter how minor brings down value big time ,most times, then sometimes guys put the ss hood on z28 car an seen some great deals there too,yes this spring i need to tuck mine meening just redo from headers back ,doing exhuast is an art ,when like in my case its true duals as well

I got it inspected today and it passedso i'll be off to get the tag tomorrow. This exhaust suuuuuuuuks and its ulgy from the back It might be better to put sound deadening through out the car. I bet it'll be cheaper then a different exhaust system. I'll get some pictures soon
I just found out it has a monsoon system with a 12 disk changer, that will hold me from doing a bad-a&& system.
