Default Temperature gauge not working on 95 z28

a while ago my temp gauge sky rocketed, the throttle response was some ****, and it kept back firing. i cant remember if i replaced the engine temp sensor, or the coolant temp sensor. but i had to remove my air intake and go underneath my car to get access to the sensor. after that it went back to normal, then recently the temp gauge stopped working all together, absolutely no response. what sensor causes the temp gauge not to respond? help me out fellow z28 drivers

if the 95 has two temp sensors like the 93 then the temp gauge sensor is below the #1 spark plug, (side of block on driver side towards the front) if the gauge is reading 0 then the sensor is bad or the wire is cut or unpluged.

its on the front of the water punp and its the temp sensor for the computer on mine. i know they changed it to work on one sensor, just dont know what year that was. the sensor should work on a ground so if you unplug the sensor and ground the wire it should make the gauge go to max. if not either the gauge is bad or the wire to the gauge is.

if your gauge is maxed out check the green wire coming from it sounds like it is rubbed and something and chaffed. if it was not working at all most likely its the temp gauge sensor or switch as its is sometimes called by parts stores. not the coolant temp sensor with the black and yellow wires coming from it.
