Default Problems with factory alarm

Does anybody know how to bypass the factory alarm. I have a 97 rs and my alarm seems to be acting up. I set the alarm and went to put the key in the ignition and turn it on, and it didn't turn the alarm off, the alarm instead started going off. Anybody have any ideas? The dealer wants to sell me a $100 lock cylinder. Do you have to remove the steering wheel to change the cylinder on this car?

Default RE: Problems with factory alarm

I bought my '96 not long ago, I haven't bought the replacement remotes yet but I see the blinking light on the dash when I turn it off. the carhas given me no problems, and when removing the spare tire plastic cover, I saw that there is a factory motion sensor near the power antenna. The sensor is unplugged, and I didn't want to plug it to prevent the alarm from inmobilizing the car (since I don't have the remotes yet to disable it). Maybe if you unplug that sensoryour alarm won't act up?
