Need help with '98 Camaro audio system.
So I've come to the point where I have realised I need a new sound system in my Camaro, mostly due to the fact my deck doesn't accept cds anymore at all. Just says "Err" and spits em out. I went to a few places and they keep telling me I have to rewire my whole car so that I can put in an aftermarket deck which is really all I want. How did you guys go about doing this? The system in it now is the Monsoon one.

The places that you're going to are telling you the correct thing. The issue is really due to the speakers. They're 2 ohm speakers, which isn't a very common impedance, most aftermarket decks are made for 4 ohm speakers. Your Monsoon system also has an amplifier that is separate from the head unit, which further goes into overdriving the speakers. I was able to install an aftermarket Sony deck in my car but the CD part wouldn't work, only the radio, so I sold it and replaced it with a used stock unit. At this point you have to decide how much you're willing to spend on your sound system because unfortunately it's kinda an all or nothing deal.

same sort of question.. for me I have a 96 bose delco system, but its the cassette, want to replace it with the CD version and stay stock, patched in an fm modulator which will do for now. But where is the power amp located for the speakers??, my right hand one has stopped emmiting sound, dont know if it could be the amp. the power amp oir the speaker itself, the rear sub still picks up the right hand chammel but door speaker not. Do I have to take off the whole door panel to get the speakerr out as the sound shop said?. Easy job, any write up on this.

I can answer the question about the door panel and right speaker. Just follow the link for "replacing power window motor" the photos are excellent as to where the screws are located and tips for removing the door panel. I had to remove the speaker in order to replace the window motor
We still need help here on the Bose units. Can a Best Buy type of system work with those speakers?

just got to somewhere and but what they call a quick wire kit for your plug inso it adapts from your stock plug in into wire ends to wired up to the plug in for your new deck. and then all you have to do is run new wires to your speakers.
