The pcm sends the injector signals also. The distributor controls nothing directly.

It is very unlikely that Autozone will have a scanner that works for your car. Even if they do, it would look something like this first photo and cost a bunch of money. Wouldn't you prefer something like the second photo for free?

check your connections at the fuse box. make sure all your fuses are getting good contact. could be moving something when your changing that fuse. you have a ground by the coil module make sure the connection is good and wires are not damaged. also a ground on the block just in front of starter. clean the connections at the power junction box (small red plastic box) on the passenger side wheel well. take wires lose and clean ends.

Update: 11/3/2014 Have bought the (only) scanner that seems to talk to the ECM? which is the Actron CP9185 and associated power cables and OBD1 to scanner cable that does not come with the scanner, to fit this car. And yes you guessed it! No communication with the ECM! actually says " No Link" instead of blameing the cable as the other scanners do? I have a new ECM soooo.....??? The connector? Its a piece of plastic with (4) wires that I have ohmed out...????. I was looking at the ground statement from an earlier help...? on pin (9)? There is no pin (9)? or should I say there is, but no wire, as the OBD1 only has (4) wires... So guys while I am looking for some direction? I do appreciate the comments and help! So please keep them coming!!! I am on a mission to fix this POS!!! ....lol I will find this problem!!! some how, some way!!!

Does this post go to all that are trying to help??? I thought it would? but don't know for sure? Yes I would! but that's looks just like a program I downloaded for free! The problem is I bought the cable for the 20$ fix and did the splice, instead of doing the 80$ no splice cable! yep my bad! now I'm second guessing my splice! which is the last thing I need to be second guessing!...lol So thinking of buying the right cable to connect to my laptop! I really want to talk to the ECM!!! for direction! please comment! I'm going brain dead here....lol

We don't get notified for every post, just the one's following our last post. The correct data signal pin is M, not 9. Ground is on Pin A. Sorry, I mistook your car for a 95.

Some of the cables found on ebay that I referenced are coming with different colored wires. You may have to check continuity with a meter to be sure the splices are correct.

This is what it says in the last notification: "There may also be other replies, but you will not receive any more notifications until you visit the forum again."

you may have unintentionally cleared any codes you had. when the battery power is disconnected from the computer it clears the codes.
