Default K&n cai

I have a 95 LT1 and when I was looking at installing the K&N CAI it doesn't look like the filter fits down in the spot. I bought the kit with the chrome tubes and it's super simple to change out, right up until the actual filter didn't fit down inside the spot where the original OEM came out of. Suggestions?

New one should go down and underneath the fender well area.

The complete K&N brand intake has a plastic plenum which puts the filter down in the cavity below the inner fender.
Sounds like you have one of those cheaper ebay or Crapozone wannabe type setups which are actually an HAI (hot), not CAI.

I did purchase from eBay but it's clearly a K&N package, must just be the wrong one, as you noted. It's a round filter that's like putting a round peg in a square hole.

That's a setup that someone put together using a K&N cone filter and aftermarket chrome tubing. The filter is a K&N, the tube is not. This is what the 4th gen K&N setup looks like:

I believe what you got replaces everything from the throttle body? The K&N setup retains the factory elbow. If you prefer the chrome look, you could keep what you have and cut it down to tap the K&N plenum to it. Or do some creative plumbing to extend what you have. Here's a K&N plenum on flebay K N 57 3010 1 Cold Air Intake 93 97 Camaro 5 7 V8 LT1 | eBay
