Default It's been a while...

...since I've posted anything. Life just kinda is too busy to cruise on forums much anymore. But anyway. Sof spun a bearing. I had been taking her to the track to get some times on her. Her best was 14.9 at 1/4. She kept hitting the rev limiter at the 2-3 shift though which killed her power. So while trying to figure this issue out Case did an oil change on her. The oil was fine, but he cut the filter open and saw some brass shavings. About two weeks later we did another oil change because of her issues and the oil looked like freaking Twilight. So she was done. I planned on starting my turbo build this winter and had about $5k planned for the budget. But now since I have to rebuild the motor again, that budget basically doubled. The hardest part so far with looking up parts and redoing my budget was finding a balancer. NO ONE MAKES ONE! The FWD ones were suppose to work, but I had contacted ZZP and ATI and they both said no they won't work. So I had to find something to use or someone to make one. I contacted quite a few companies and they all said no. I contacted a company last week to see if they make anything that would work. They initially said no. Through more emails and talking to another customer concerning the W Body, they have decided to team up to create their own SFI certified performance balancer that will work for the F Body. I sent in my balancer as requested to help with the mock up. I was pretty excited my Sof gets to be part of a companies product development. The guy also wants to talk about how to market it to the Fbody crowd. Again, I'm pretty excited I get to be involved with this project.

If anyone is interested in this balancer, check out BHJ Products to follow to progress. I have no idea how much it will cost, but the more people involved, the cheaper it gets. They should be making this as a direct performance replacement. Here's their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bhjperformance?fref=nf

Please read this with an open mind and knowing I did put 100,000 miles on a project 96. I loved my 3800 and I fully understand wanting to make your beloved car all it can be....

But,

You should really think twice about what you are doing. Even with a Turbo the 3800 is going to be very limited. Search Musicman's threads he went thru a few motors before he broke 12 seconds. A stock LT1 with bolt-ons can break into 12's. A stock LS1 with bolt-ons can go deep in the 11's.

If you want to go really fast for 5k your best bet is a 5.3 turbo setup. We have a member who just did the 5.3 conversion and has a real complete parts list. He built a daily driver but the 5.3 only needs slight modification to produce 750 HP on boost with fair reliability. With the right tune you can drive it every day taking advantage of tuning part throttle mapping. This nice part is the 5.3's can be found for under $500 all day long. If you are willing to drag the car up to Allentown we have an excellent 5.3 turbo tuners.

Research Music man (might want to search http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums/

The above guys like the 5.3's but they can help with the 3800

EditL Ha, I just looked a Musicmans sig, looks like he went 5.3 awhile ago.
