I have a hard decision to make. Should I buy a 87-92 iroc z and swap it for a ls1 or should I just buy a 2000 camaro as/ firebird ws6; what would be cheaper?

Unless you have your heart set on third gen body you'll be money ahead buying a 4th gen car with a factory LS1.

I really love the 3rd gen body but would it be worth it.

Not worth the time and money.
Buy a 4th gen with LS1.

When you have time and money to spend, then do a LS1/3/6 swap into a 3rd Gen.

Probably not unless you find a smoking deal on a wrecked 4th gen LS1 donar car.

Depends on what you mean by "would it be worth it". A few here have put considerable modification money into their 4th gens that, from a financial practicality standpoint, is not "worth it". It's a hobby though. But if you really like the 3rd gen better, and like the oohs & aahs you may get when showing the car, and you don't care about the time and expense, then yeah it's worth it.

the ls1 cars are the best ones,an iroc would be cheaper ,depending on miles shape so on? why buy an iroc then swap it ,if your thinking about a 3rd gen think about big block if you want a nice street rod ,if you want a stock car then go 4th gen z28 has more hp then an iroc ever had ,max in 91 was 245hp in 93 they came out with a le1 iroc that some had the lt1 engine in does not say the hp rateing,,the 2002 ss come 345hp ,so no brainer they handle better ,its on my bucket list ,as far as stock goes an the 2000 ss about 325 hp,so while the iroc would be cheaper most stock ones have less hp then todays v6 cars ,but like said a nice irco would make a great engine swap car or project car ,i seen this guy had a red 99 z28 said Iroc on the side of the doors very tacky
