45psi I thought 35 was high 32 is average all mine are 35 psi ,if it was a one time thing I would not worry about it.but yes I did my share of burnouts with the lt1. an v6 car nevers there realy not made for it ,an now I don't do any burnouts at all ,I chirp second gear now an then if I forget to shift but I got the whole new set up now too ,with shift kit in my 95 406,to much good looks to mess up after all the hard works getting my car right an still in the works ,I hope to have mine in better shape after front struts an front end parts too,so no playing around for me trying the new camara

Not an argument just a physic discussion. I am not trying to convince the OP he trashed his trans.

They teach you day one in transmission class. Heat causes wear in an automatic transmission. They also teach you the more power through the transmission more heat. Because reverse has to change direction of the energy it requires more line pressure on the clutches and it generates more heat.
So, Power=Heat=Wear.

To move a 3500 lb car takes a certain amount of energy. To move a 3500 lb car uphill takes a lot more energy. To tear rubber from a tire and create enough heat to melt rubber also requires energy. Nothing is free, all work has a cost, even spinning tires is work.

Therefore we can say the moving a 3500lb car uphill while spinning the tires requires more energy than simply backing up the hill the same distance. Since all the energy is coming from the engine and passing through the transmission we can say more power passed through the transmission. More power= More Heat=More wear.

The trans parts many not have as much torque on them in terms of shear when tires are spinning but the power is still coming from the engine and passing through the transmission.

So what is the fastest way to burn up a transmission? Spinning tires up hill in reverse. Or anything that puts a lot of energy through the transmission while it is in reverse. This is even true when you are stuck in the snow, go easy on reverse.

oh did not know your running ?what for tires 315 40 17s or bigger ,so traction is not the best ,you may actually do better on all season of that type about then a slick ,guys an my looking seems the 275 40 17s are the best bang for our buck I could have had 4 tires for 350.00 this past spring ,nowwaiting till next spring ,an from the 275 to 315 there just tad bit wider but cost more too ,though sales can be had on them too

I forgot, 100 dollars for 4 extra fat tires and more modern rims than the factory - issue '93 Rims. It's a pain to look at the tire, under a new car cover with bungy cords now which cover its tires. Used tire shops have my seal of approval. Next month, I'm getting a thorough tune-up. Everything else (in the budget) takes a back seat to a man's "Christine," or "Dragon Wagon," LoL

? what size tires are they ,sounds like a good deal for used slicks ,but not good for road driving ,the 275 is the best for 17in wheels an the 245 or 255 40 16 for 16 inch wheels
