Default Fuel Pressure Regulator?

I had a guy offer me a fuel pressure regulator for my 1994 Z28 for about $80. First, is this a good offer? Second, he said it would increase my horsepower by about 50-60 horsepower. Is this true? I find that hard to believe... And third, if I bought it, how hard is it to replace the old one with this new one?

keping the pressure above standard will increase hp, not a lot, more like 5. But you need a suporting tune too as if you run too rich it will run worse!

^^^^^are correct. You would see better results by buying a quality air filter replacement for the money. Watch out for that guy.

A fuel pressure regulator will not increase power, unless the one you now have is bad. The amount of fuel delivered is controlled by the PCM by adjusting the duty cycle of the injectors. If you increase fuel pressure, the PCM will decrease the duty cycle to maintain the proper A/F ratio. An adjustable regulator is useful if the engine has been modified and you want to make temporary minor adjustments to the A/F mixture without having to tune the PCM. However the PCM will eventually adjust the duty cycle of the injector and bring things back to where it wants them.
