Default Fan Relays

Hiya, I have a 93 Z28 1LE and was looking at the relay/fuse box. According to the diagram I should have 2 fan relays, but there seems to only be one, and there's no connectors in the spot that the diagram shows the second relay is supposed to be.

Just wondering if the diagram and wiring diagrams are wrong or if my car is different being a 1LE?

Here's a pic of the relay diagram and a pic of the relay box with the primary & secondary relay spots circled.

Thanks.

If I remember right, 1LE only has one big fan on the rad. not two like a normal Z. How sure are you that yours is a 1LE? They are super rare with 19 being built that year.

Default 1le

Very sure, I have the original build sheet from the factory and the car is 99% original, only things that have been changed are the sway bars, the opti, the battery & the tires.

You're right, one big fan, I didn't even look until now, I just figured LT1=two fans.

Does that mean my car has a different ECM program to only monitor one fan?

I guess if I put in the SLP fan switch it would turn the one fan on in either position of the switch.

Curious why you changed the sway bars? 1LE package cars already had bigger sways.

My 93 has two. One that runs on by itself if it gets too hot and the second will kick on if the first can't do it alone. I remember reading somewhere for the differences for the 1LE package and them coming with only one fan because of the a/c delete.

ok you got me. lol. yep 93 z28 has two fans and the v6 has one. not sure where i was on that one. 93-94 z have only one speed and fans are turned on separtely, 95 up both fans come on but have two speeds.

Default Sway Bars

I didn't change them I haven't even changed the oil since I've had it, The previous owner changed them, I have the original ones hanging on the wall in my garage.

I bought the car last September from a friend who was the executor of the will of the original owner. It came with a box of receipts for everything that had been done to the car since '93. had less than 43k miles when I got it, just under 44k now.

Does the one fan come on at ~226 like the Primary fan on dual fan systems? Could I change the single one out for a dual fan and put the second fan on a switch, leaving the first fan hooked to the factory relay?

According to shbox, 226 on for primary (low speed), off at 221, secondary (high speed) on at 235, off at 230.

You could, but it'd take away the value of it being a 1LE. Honestly, that one fan should be more than enough. I've only ever had both of my fans come on at the same time once, and that was sitting in traffic for 20 minutes due to construction on 103-105 temp. day and the needle still never made it near the red zone.
