Camaro Forced Induction: Supercharger Or Turbo?

Camaro Forced Induction: Supercharger Or Turbo?
I have a '95 Z28 w/ a 5.7L V8 Corvette engine. I've noticed that a lot of camaros have turbo. What would be better? Supercharger or Turbo? I'm not very educated on cars but I mean, I've always been under the impression that American Muscle = Supercharger. Rice = Turbocharger. What would be best for my car? What would get me the best times on the track?

uve noticed alot of turbo camaros? where at....? as compared to bolton or HC camaros or just built motor NA cars, there are approximately zero FI camaros.
but to answer ur question, neither is better.
they work in slightly different ways, but in the end, it all depends on your overall build. if you just take ur car and slap on either system you wont see a clear advantage either way, nor will you necessarily beat NA cars that have built the motor up.

Turbos are not just for imports. I am not sure why people think that but it's completely wrong. Turbos are a great way to add BIG power, but a nice supercharger is easier to install and cheaper.

thats true. those cars are also not streetable.
IMO, on a late model fbody, especially 4th gen, the money you need to spend to take full advantage of a FI setup is not worth it, especially if you are looking for a 400-500bhp car

Well from my what I know, most imports have turbo because, in a 4 cylinder engine, there is a very low efficiency rate for a supercharger. However for a turbo charge on a 4 banger, its amazing. Supercharger is generally for bigger engines IMO. You can have 4 bangers with superchargers, but they are not as good as a turbo charger. Thats why you see so many imports having turbocharger.
In your case, both should be fine. Usually with the supercharger the power is always there, but with a turbocharger its when your car is at a certain rpm it starts to spool in. Go with the one that will suit you best
