Brakes shake only at highway speed
Been having a slight shake under braking only above 55mph. Under 55mph braking is perfectly smooth, shakes mostly in the steering wheel.
If the brakes were the problem wouldn't they shake at all speeds?
What else could be wrong.

it could be roters need resurficeing ,mine ,it depends if I have to hit them hard it shutters a bit ,but someone else may have a better answer ? did you have them done last brake job,it could also be your steering colume bolts are getting loose I think someone said there is 6 or 8 of them that need to be replaced or tighten up after 20 years

This is usually from a car that sat for a length of time, Rust will build up heavily on half of the wheel side of the rotor, With you living in the rust belt...It can happen fast!
Replace both front brake rotors, Pads. Make sure to remove all rust from the wheel hubs before installing the new rotors. Torque the lug nuts to 80 ft lbs.

I actually just rotated them when I did the rear brakes (pads and rotors). The rear brakes were shaking real bad so I didn't notice anything from the front.
Wear looked pretty even so I'll try getting the tires balanced, they haven't been balanced since they were installed 55,000+ miles ago but they don't vibrate when just cruising at highway speed.

I had similar problem when braking over 55mph. The rotors would warp from the heat, but braking under 45mph was fine. It didn't always do it, it just depends on the heat build up.
I got some used rotors from junk yard that look brand new and put them on and haven't had any shake in steering or pulse in brake pedal. Plus the ones that shake were stamped with gm so they must of been original till I changed them.

Could this be caused by badly worn upper control arm bushing? I had the front up in the air and did some shaking with the tire off to get a good look and noticed they were really bad. I mean require little to no effort to make the control arm wiggle.
