Default Alternator pig tail plug problem

So i somehow ripped the top plug off of my 1996 rs 3.8 second series alternator . And went to buy a new one and it has 4 wires and i only have one .. Iv read were some people have 4 and some have 1 . Iv also read were if its brown its ls1 wire however ... I do not see how that is possible . I was wondering if anyone knew what plug wire i need to wire for that or what new plug i need to buy . Theres a post of a guy with the same problem but he did not post his solution . Thanks in advance .

What pin does the old one use? What color was the wire? The one at the end or in one of the middle two?
The 96 service manual shows the V6 having a brown wire to pin L. The LS1 has red wire to pin B.

And its a 4 terminal plug . One brown wire as the book says but none of my local parts dealers have a single brown. They only carry 4 wire . Iv tried wiring one and two up at a time . However that didnt do nothing .

They only have a 4-wire version because it's easier to stock a single version than to have many variations. Just use the brown wire position (L) only.

So do i just wire it up with the correct wire and pray it works ? Because i have tried that and my alternator didnt kick on . I cranked my car but my batter was all that had power so it died .
