First, check your fuses. Most head units have a fuse next to where the harness connects in addition to the one in the fuse box . Second, check to make sure your wiring is correct (http://www.modifiedlife.com/1994-chevrolet-camaro-car-radio-wiring-diagram/) and that nothing is grounding out that shouldn't. Worse comes to worse, take it to a shop and pay to have it hooked up.

If the car came with a Bose system, then the speakers came with individual amplifiers. If that is the case, then you have to install a set of normal speakers.

Like the guy above said, if it is a Bose system you have to bypass the amps. I used to be an installer back in the 90's and if I remember correctly, there is no after market harness that allows for the use of the stock amps like there are for other cars, though things have changed since then. I just remember rewiring a lot of vettes to bypass the Bose system. You can use the stock speakers, you just have to by-pass the amps at the speakers. They are little black boxes attached to the speakers. If it is not amplified, then you either have a bad ground, or a bad grounding circuit inside the radio. I was also an electronics tech for many years and a bad solder joint inside the stereo can be the cause of that problem. Hope this helps.

Typically that is introduced through a bad or loose ground. Is the system amplified or are the speakers running off the stereo itself??

so i got the radio hooked up and it worked for a couple of days and then i tried installing an aftermarket radio kit to make it fit in my gm dash and i was re-taping wires and all of a sudden the radio turned off and would not power back on. my wiring is good because it worked previously, i do notice that my door chime and my inside lights dont turn on anymore when my door is open; could this be a bad fuse? i also noticed while the radio was working everytime i do a pull and got up to higher rpm there would be a whine coming from the dash somewhere.
