Default Abs traction control and brake light on

I have a 2002 ls1 that I'm having issues with these warning lights randomly coming on. If I take a slight turn to the left the lights will come on and stay on. The previous owner replaced the right side hub only before I bought the car from him and he told me it could be the abs module. Any idea what could be causing it?

test the wire harness between the hub and main wire harness. known to fail. other then that i would look at the abs. it may be best for you to take it to dealer to have it scanned with a abs scanner.

The problem is probably not with the hub/sensor, but with the cable to it. When you turn the steering wheel, it moves the cable.

Why did he only replace the right side? Perhaps he had it scanned and the scan showed the fault on that side. I would focus on the right side cable and connectors.

Try replugging the connectors to the front hubs first. Mine was doing this, replugged and a spray of wd40 and the fault never came back. If not then maybe replace the flex cables to the hubs.

Ok took the cables off and cleaned them and put them back and the light stayed on. I was told the abs module might be bad. Is that the one located on the drivers side in the engine compartment.

Did you check the cables with a meter for intermittent continuity? Connect the meter to each end of each wire and wiggle the cable a lot. Notice any break in the reading.

The wheel sensor can be defective also. Just less likely than the cable.

Sorry, I was thinking of a 94. Yes, the module is where you said, under the hood.

No I did not check the connectors with a meter. I should have done that.
My other question is if I was to get a used abs module from a similar car would I have to get it programmed to mine.

Since you stated the problem occurs when turning to the left, that seems to indicate a cable or sensor fault.

I don't think there is any programming to do on a replacement module.
