If they're not working as the should, then there lies your problem. When the car is moving the air dam underneath scoops up air and pushes in through the radiator. When you're stopped in traffic or let the car idle some where, there is no airflow through the radiator. That's where the fans kick in and pull air through it to keep the engine and coolant within operating temperature. Make sure your fans are kicking on. You should be able to hear them.

when i was switching relays i heard the fan come on for about 10-15sec then shutoff, i then went to the car and the temp was stilling rising. do you guys think it could be the ECT. it says in shoebox guide that the ect when defected/not in working order. it will make the pcm tell the fans to come on at the wrong time and also have trouble starting when warm?
