93-97 to 98-02 front end conversion

well if you look at the impact bumper it has the 2 curves for the healights that the bumper cover fits like glove over it ,in the write up the guy had the old one off in one picture so they must have used 98-02 an the 2 holes on the back of cover they fit into the ones you see in the picture ,the 93 -97 are honeycomb style an not hard foam .may work but probley not form fiting,so the cover is made to fit right over it ,i am geting a picture in my head,an now that i have my 99 out i can kinda see how things look a bit better that will help to with the healight brackets ,the uppers an lowers 4 of them including the main bracket left an right,we are on the right track now ,the guys write up helps alot ,but a few things not metioned like the things in this post, now i am 100% sure its needed unless one is saveing weight like you did

well i can say this if i did not have a crash bumper ,i would probley have had to part the car out it saved my frame an my engine at 25 to 30 mph ,it took out my hood fender bumper cover an some tweaking of the frame just a little ,i cant take the chance ,an go without one ,to save 25lbs ,i am sure it works but if you crash it your up chit creek ,like said i think mine saved my $35000,00 engine +,my car is not for raceing only street performance ,? the bumper cover probley lines up easyer without one though ,got to have one for my car,so you did the swap ?? 93-97 -98-02 ,the 93-97 crash bumper would not have worked ,i have had 2 front end wrecks an if i did not have that part it would have been gone 7 years ago ,without raceing ,an 3 hit an runs ,small dents all fixed ,if i raced i would look for stronger impact bumper to protect the investment a wreck at 25mph would take out your frame an your engine ,dont see why you would not use it 25lbs they make a race style one ,time an money

In my case, the weight is worth it to me, I ran bars through the firewall to the front frame rails to help in a collision, but I also moved my rad and fuel cell into the front nose of the car, where the crash bar would be.

I have a 93 that was converted to a 2000 front end. The reason I did not chime in is because it is a great example of how not to do it. I can wiggle the head lights and there are several brackets made from what looks like an erector set.

The rad support is removeable so I can pull the motor out the front by loosening the motor/mid-plate bolts, basically, we made it easy to work on due to it being a nitrous car and needed to change plugs/pistons/etc
you can see in this one the stock bumper mounts are still there, just not being used, eventually I'm just going to cut them off, after I hit my knee off them a few more times

1) the car will sustain way more damage in a front end crash, and as mentioned, increase the chances of it getting totaled/creamed even in a slower speed impact.
2) If an occupant is injured, where they can claim they otherwise may not have been hurt, look at receiving a hefty lawsuit from them.
3) Removing the impact bumper gives your insurance company a possible way out from paying a full claim to fix your own car, or to fix an injured passenger.

not denying any of that, I've said from the get go, this was on my racecar.
I guess what I was getting at was that the bumper support is not needed, so he very well may be able to get away with his old one, my fault for not clarifying that
