1996 RS Project.
I recently bought a 1996 RS from a family member. My goal is to switch out the engine and trans by the end of 2018 and my current dilemma has been which trans and motor to put in. I like the LS1 a lot but I need some feedback on a good trans to go with it or any other ideas or knowledge anyone has would be extremely helpful! thank you!

this is not as easy as in the past generations. the 4th gen is engine specific, meaning the componits are designed for the engine size. springs, k member, computer, wiring, trans, rear end, driveshaft, etc. it is not cheap either. is the engine shot? if so have you considered a series 3 3.8? lots of them around with low miles and gain 20hp.

You should listen to the 2 previous experts, the short story, buy a V8 car. Cheaper, easier, on the road sooner, as I've been there done that etc. My current 95 Z28 M6 t top at 93k ish was 3200, it's very nice, listen to those guys

easy to swap into a z28 or ss car but the 6 cycle cars, sounds like though if you plan on takeing 2 years to build one ,a lot of money an time like said ,better off with a z28 roller ,then ls1 swap is a lot less problems, but is true there realy one engine cars ,guys do it to say it can be done ,even my swap was not very long an runs great but still a work in progress, owuld just get another 6 for that car keep driving it ,then get a v8 car ,one has to be very experienced to do the build you want to do
