Default 1994 3.4l v6 hard cold start

I've never done a forum before, but i need some help! i have a 94 Camaro 3.4l v6 and kinda out of no where it started having a really hard cold start, no check engine light, no codes. it will start if i pump the gas while turning it over, i cleaned out the throttle body with cleaner and it started fine for two days (guessing the cleaner helped it start) i replaced the spark plugs, and i don't believe its the fuel pump because after it starts it seems to run and drive just fine. I put a new battery in the car and it almost seemed to start having issues after i put the new battery in... any insight about what my problem is? thanks for your time!

I would still check your fuel pressure. The fuel pump might be good, but the fuel pressure regulator could be bad, or you could have leaky fuel injectors flooding the engine as it sits, which will make for a hard start. Turn your key on, let the pump prime, then key off. Do that 2-3 times and see if engine starts easier. When checking fuel pressure, check it after the pump primes before starting engine, and when engine is running. Then watch the pressure after key is off, pressure should hold for a good while. If it drops off at a fast rate, you want to look at the injectors, pressure regulator, or fuel pump (faulty check valve) as being the culprit.

did you scan it for codes after changing the battery? unhooking battery clears codes. you would need to run it and have the issue before code will set again. does sound like a fuel pressure problem. low or high fuel pressure can cause a rich condition. that does sound like what you have, engine needs more air if there is more fuel so you have to give it throttle to start.

I did not scan for codes, for some reason the oreilys scanner wouldn't connect to my car eventhough it plugged in fine, i will hopefully be borring a fuel pressure gage from a buddy to check it, it seems to start better after i cycle the ignition a few times, but that's not always the case.

The 94 wont scan with most handheld scanners. You will need a high end scanner like a Tech2, a CP9185, or my pc-based free scan app Scan9495-V6.

94 is a odd one, not sure if 6 is same as 8 though. https://camaroforums.com/forum/lt1-l...ks-94-a-71161/

Well I definitely don't have The money to buy one, I'll have to ask around. You think a dealership would have a scanner that would work?

yea, thats the next thing im going to try is testing the fuel pressure. would it possibly have anything to do with the battery, i put a new battery in the car with more CCA but it was the right battery for the car. could that have anything to do with it?

probley not ,should be 600 cca most go with 700cca or 800cca an more ,depending how much you need big amps an speakers ,like say a 500cca would do it but the battery may wear out faster dont think that would have anything to do with it ,i have seen some small batterys in some cars or trucks that work just fine ,may not hurt to give it 18 hour trickel.. charge .i have 700cca in my 3.8 but i think it can run on 600cca all day,my 406 has a 700 to .630cca .is for that car ,so yes 700cca / is that what you have ,though a 600cca probley works, like my 95 .if i was still .runing 2 camars an the 1000 watt amp then i would move to 900cca
