what parts are interchangeable
i finally talked my brother in law 2 years later to sell me his 89 IROC-Z
the only problem is there is issue with the charging system it kills batteries very fast.
will the alternator from my 96 z28 fit and work on the 89 where both are 5.7L 350?
i wanna try this to see if the alternator is truely bad cause the one on the 89 is a new altinator

How can a alternator kill a battery? An alternator can do some nasty things to a battery but your ECU would be fried long before it would kill a battery.
Most common cause of battery failure is drawing the battery low at night then once the car starts it recharges the battery. These are not deep cycle batteries they can not handle that very long. Also I would suspect bad connection/cables long before the alternator.
I seriously doubt your 96 Lt1 alternator would fit the 89, In the 80's GM knew dirty power was a problem with their computer systems. I am sure they improver the alternator from 89 to 96.

ok i plan on getting new battery wires along with other things
i know there is a bad ground in there somewhere cause the few cranks i did do to get it started the battery teminals were scorching hot. so its drawing alot of power somewhere.
when i get it home i can take pics and/or videos to show
