Rear main seals
Ok, I have a 91 model camaro with the tpi 305 in it, and I'm looking about buying an 85 year model motor. I know that my block is a one peice rear main seal, and that they 85 should have a two piece. Would I be able to use the two piece block? Or would I be better off using my spare 350 crank that has a one piece rear main seal setup with it?

Using the 350 crank in a 305 will most likely result in an out of balance condition, unless the rotating assembly is reblanced. It is possible that you may like the vibration, but the main bearings probably won't.

im not exactly sure what you are doing and why, but the 305 and 350 crank are exactly the same. there are diferences in the blocks for the rear main, but im not sure about the crank. there are way to around it by either machining it

wow that post made me look like a dumb ***... sorry guys lol. I meant to say that I'm buying an 85 350 motor for my car to put in place of the 305, and if there was a way to make it a one piece rear main because I have a 350 crank that came out of a new block with a one piece seal, but it's not a big deal, i'll just stick with the two piece rear main seal
