Putting on the Power Steering Pump Pulley
Hi all. I am trying to put my PS pulley back on and it appears that I am only needing about a centimeter to get it completly on, it wiggles just a little bit. I have tried just about everything, I have the pulley puller tool and used it to get it on to the point it is at now. I have tried everything I can think of...I have cussed, thrown things, hit things etc....LOL Still nothing.
Anyway, any information would be greatly appreciated on this subject.
Thks,
Kristi

RE: Putting on the Power Steering Pump Pulley
If your pulley is only a centimeter off and it wiggles then it must be bad. They are pressed on and a tight fit from the start. Usualy the pumps will come with a bolt, nut and fender washer. You put the pully up to the pump shaft and thread the bolt with the nut and washer on it into the pumps shaft. There are threads in it. Hand tighten the bolt only. Then turn the nut to press the pully on. Once the pulley is on far enough it will stop. The shaft and pully will be flush. Once that puilley starts to press on it should not wiggle. I also use some anti-seaze on the pully and shaft so it does not bind.

RE: Putting on the Power Steering Pump Pulley
So you are saying that pulley is bad, since it is wiggling? Is it possible I don't have it on the right way? Meaning "straight" on? I used the bolt, nut and washer that came with the pump...I did tighten down the bolt more than hand tight though...think that might have messed things up?
