changed hydraulic lifters, now wont start
Im sure you guys have heard this plenty of times, but im stumped. I have an 83 Berlinetta with a 305 Carb. I had just recently changed the hydraulic lifters and put everything back together the way it came off and it wont start now. im pretty sure we were getting fuel and spark because a nice backfire shot through the carb. so we re-timed the ignition so that it wasn't 180 out like we had it, and it still will not start, i know the PCV valve did not want to seat properly, and the dumbass previous owner stripped out the holes for the carb bolts, so can the combo of the pcv not seating all the way in the rubber boot, and the carb not being torqued down cause my engine to not start? if not, what else is a possibility? i know the rocker arms are not too tight, we torqued them down to manufacturer spec, and pulled one of the valve covers to make sure they were working when the engine was cranking. what gives?

Hmmm....
Just what is the manufacture spec for rocker torque? Like to know how you did it and where you found the specs.
And you know the carb is not tight so you should just get off your butt and fix it. Heli coil it or get another intake. Eliminate the obvious stuff. Also make sure you got the firing order correct and started with #1 on the cap.

Hmmmm.....you didn't happen to ask basically the same question, having the same problems, with the exact same car, in a different thread, going by a different user name, did you? https://camaroforums.com/m_237925/tm.htm
Not foolin' me, man! I already gave an answer there.
