Default 4th gen rear end in 3rd gen

Hey guys. I am looking at getting a different rear end set up for my car. I recently upgraded to a cammed and carbed 350 from my tpi 305 (Highly recommended to anyone who is thinking about it (: ). I want to get a posi under my car. The cheapest way I can think about doing this is getting a rear end from a 93-02 z28 or ss that has a limited slip. The problem with just putting it in is that they all have rear disk brakes. Mine is drum in the back. I have heard different opinions all over the place about this swap. Would I need a new master cylinder? new proportioning valve? new ebrake lines? The other option is to just take my rear end out and have someone put in a posi. I would but I have never played iwth rear ends and don't have a shop press.

A 4th gen rearend is 3.5" wider than a 3rd gen. If you don't have more than 1.75" of tire to fender clearance now, you'll need to use 4th gen wheels which have more back spacing. That would be in addition to swapping/welding 3rd gen mounts onto the 4th gen axle housing.

The 4th gen rear is wider by 4" overall and is a direct fit with NO WELDING. Just remove one and replace it For the switch from drum to disc's you will need the Proportioning valve and the Parking brake cables from the 4th gen rear.

Hey guys, you should look at just swapping the center. If you already have a v8 diff. The fbody ls1 diff uses only 28 spline axles, you can buy replacements for yours if there not 28's, go to 31's there available.

Why? Didn't you see the dimension differences?
