Default 3.1 upgrades

I wanna know what cheap inexpensive upgrades/ horsepower gains that can be done to the 3.1 engine. Anyone have any suggestions? Also is there any fuel saving upgrades that can be done to help increase fuel mileage? That is not on the top of my list right now though, if I waste a whole tankful of gas driving 2 miles because the engine has so much power I won't mind that either. Any ideas?

I'm serious about the upgrades. I'm not on here to be like one of those people that have so many plans and not enough drive to get it done. i don't have to money for a v8 new trans and rear and all the **** to go with it. so I'm taking the alternative route for right now and looking for possible upgrades to make my 3.1 run better and hopefully get a bit more power. I've seen custom turbos and intakes and all that and im looking for someone with enough experience to guide me in the right direction to get my engine running better without hurting it....

The 3.1 saw a few upgrades from the 2.8 but not enough to make a huge differents. To say "I don't have enough money for a V8 swap so I want to make my 3.1 fast" is like saying I heard Calc 1 is hard so I am going to skip it and go right to Calc 2. It just does not make any sence. The easiest cheapest why to make a 3rd gen faster is with a V8. Even a home fabed turbo kit would ocst more then a V8. The work the exhaust side of the heads would alone would be very involved.

Your Motor came with 140 HP the bottom end is not strong enough to handle much more then that. Infact Even stock with low miles these bottom ends failed. You do not have to believe me. Just look around for after market parts. The 2.8/3.1 Camaro was at one time the most common Camaro out there. If there was any effective boltons the would be everywhere.

If you want to stay with a 60 deg V6 you can make power but it will not be cheaper then a V8 not even close.
