I recently got a hold of a 92 Z28 and found that the k member is split on th passenger side, the split is near the ream most connection point of the lower Control arm. Will a new k member remedy this or will there be issues lining up the bolt holes? What to put a tubular k member. Tubular lower control arms. New springs, and new struts

Has anyone seen or heard of this?

 

Really? 20 view and no one has an opinion on this problem? I know it's a pretty much "try and find out" thing, but no one ever heard of this happening? Or happened to you?

 

I don't see a problem with a new k-member, as long as there isn't any other damage. Sorry about the lack of response in this section, it doesn't get much traffic. You might want to ask in the third gen section.

i've never heard of one splitting. i bent mine once, and all i had to do was replace it. there was other damage to other parts, and those were replaced as well. i can't imagine replacing it wouldn't fix the problem, but that's kind of an expensive fix.

 

I just recently dismantled everything, and turn out I will have to bend back some frame and weld it, it has pulled the bolt through the frame. Hope my aftermarket k member will bolt back up:/
