I just picked up a 91 iroc stock with a fresh 305 my plans are a 383 stroker to start but not fast enough looking for about 550 horse any advice

 

Spray it until it blows up, race, break, rebuild, repeat

 

Sounds like good advice but that could be the years of leaded fuel speaking......... I am going in the direction of a blown stroker........I'm confident in my abilities to achieve this by March back to work season had an OK year so my bonus will hopefully cover the cost.....the car was only 200 bucks since it wouldn't start but I suspect injector problem....no worries I have no use for the 305

first of all why waste a good 305 ,they got some get up an go ,don't throw nitro at it after about 20 shots you need rings an or pistons ,if you realy want that kind hp I am guessing for track ,the 383 could be built to handle that with the right builder , heck a good builder can get 500hp out the 305 ,I would run the 305 an think about it, you said its fresh ,but if you like nitro you can get 250hp shot ,but with that much you need a very well built engine with all forged products,$200,00 bucks lets see this car pictures ,that's a deal ? I just read the last year for the iroc was 1990 91 was an RS an z28 ,Camaro 3rd gen Wikipedia,before the big plans for the 383 ,get it running first an see what else it needs ,someone either gave you a great deal ,or there is a lot of work to be done ?miles ,I have learned take your time unless you got a team of builders doing it for you ,take you time an do it up right ,I relized that with my 95 406 project ,I need to slow the pace couse budget an no team of builders ,I would love to be able to send my car out to Navada an spend some time with Counting cars

 

The 305 puts out 350 hp as is its running I paid two hundred for it Canadian pesos at that lol not for the track at all I'd like to be the fastest dad picking up my kids from school and one guy drives a cuda 440 I'm off work till march so I gotta keep busy ...I tried learning the guitar and that didn't work

 

a 305 putting out 350hp well thats no slacker someone built that engine .well concidering the cars came with 170 to 220hp during the late 80s to 92 the that meens someone built that one in it ,if its fresh I would work on other things for 200,oo there must be a lot more work to do on the car besides replace a fresh 305 making that kinda hp ,heck my 406 is making about 320 to the wheels an bit more 380tlbs for great light runs an its pretty bad as is now ,that kinda hp can get one huge trouble on the street ,if you got a lead foot ,I would think about brakes front end part suspention ? post some pics lets see this nice car ,man I am just saying if I got that great a deal with built 305 ,I would think about putting the money elce where to handle all that hp

 

I'll post pics on the Christmas break the car is at my brother's house about 90 miles from my house so I'll have a week to get it running its got intake heads headers exhaust and upgraded injectors going turbo just makes those parts obsolete I'd like to cam it.........then might as well stroker the 305 and run it while I build some more power. Cars here in Alberta Canada are pretty cheap.......there's a 78 vette with no motor for 2700 Canadian dollars its been online for months no sale..... Good brakes tires and newer white interior....looks like leather could be vinyl but for under 3k its a steal
Mind you these types of cars see action from mid may to early Sept we have 6 inches of ice on the roads now
