Default Temp Gauge/Cluster bad (1986 z28)

I have an 1986 Z28 that has a non functioning temp gauge in the cluster. I was told that the cluster itself is bad by a mechanic. Has anyone replaced the cluster with an aftermarket?

is it worth it to upgrade to a digital cluster?

or should i just have them "rebuild" the current cluster?

thoughts please

Do the other gages work??? If they are ok, try replacing the temp sensor in the driver's side head. I had my go bad and that is all it needed to make the temp gage to work.

Classic industries sells brand new temperature gages for 82-89 Camaros. I bought one and installed it in my 87 and it worked great. I think it was $50. Fairly easy install. it just plugs into the cluster.
