Stall speed on stock torque converter??

Default Stall speed on stock torque converter??

Whats the stall speed on a stock torque converter for an 82? Im thinking about buying another (higher) one but dont wanna spent the time and money if its only a few hundred rpm difference...........

roughly 1800. what trans do you have, the 700r4 or the 2004r? there is quite a difference jumping from 1800 to a 2200-2400 stall.

Stall speed for stock 700R4 is about 1600/1650 RPM's....

OK, I guess I should have thrown this out there.....ive got a 3 speed TH350 (no overdrive). -Dont ask....the previous owner stuffed it in there.

Stall speed still the same??

There's absolutely no way to tell, unless you inspect the TC for markings.

easiest way to find out, go out and test it. put it in gear, and slowly rev it up with the brakes on. when the rear tires finally break loose, that's right where your stall speed is.

Yes, you can do a stall test, however it won't be accurate.

that is an ase approved method for checking stall speed and is 90% accurate (if the trans isnt slipping). also, the more torque an engine produces, generally the stall speed will be higher

Funny, because even with all the mods Ive done, sometimes when I do a 'brake stand' she wont spin the tires......just sits there and groans.....
