Default Parking brake help!

Hi all. I've been trying to get my cam back on the road for awhile now. I put in a posi rear with disc brakes about 4 months ago and I can't get the parking brake to catch. I've been adjusting the cable underneath the car but all that seems to be doing is tightening the handle. Maybe I have to keep tightening that cable but it seems like I'm getting no where fast with that one. The brake caliper has the weight on the it and the brake cable attaches to it with a spring as well. I don't want to drive this thing home without that parking brake working. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

The car is an '85 z28 I just put an (as I was told) Australian 9 bolt out of a Trans am fire chicken (don't know the year). The rear does have 9 bolts and I looked at the gears and they do say 3:70.

I did not think that the BW rear everhad that style caliper. That lever with the weight on it is supose to turns that screw and pushes the piston out as you use the hand brake to keep it adjusted. (look at the piston. does it have 2 or 4 notches?) Your brake pad is also supose to have tabs on them that are to be located in those notches so the piston will not turn. If you were able to push the piston in without useing a tool to screw it in then I think you have a problem.

#16 is the screw that suposed to adjust the piston out with the use of the hand brake. I did this before on my 84. Remove the lever and put the nut back on. You may need to double nut it or washers. What you are going to do is turn the lever manualy to try and adjust the piston out and also be able to bet the lever back on. But don't go too far or you will have to screw the piston back in.

Hey Thanks Mike. I had thecalipers rebuilt professionally and all the hardware including screw # 16. Guess I have to sit there and play with it some more. I did notice that as I turned that nut it did get tight on the wheel. I was trying to avoid taking the damn thing apart again but I guess it's never easy with these cars.
