Default just piced up a 88 iroc 5.7 have many ?s and need advice

hi new here just piced upa 88 camaro iroc first car was a 84 z28 and wanted one again great memories.so i found a 88 5,7 with 8th digit is 8 and it has a 5 spd in there i have been told no 5 spd came with 5.7 in 1988 also i have the g92 option and i have an alumium drive shaft.what do i have a car that was an auto trans and someone converted it?

The IROC was available with a 5.7 and 5.0 (305), G92 axle option was available with both as well. Did you check the block numbers to confirm you do in fact have a 5.7 and not a 5.0? And right, the 5 speed didn't come with a 5.7, in any year.

i should of done more homework.where do i find block numbers on the block?

There may be a 5.0 or 5.7 cast into the bellhousing flange.
Or check the suffix code on the front passenger side pad: Camaro Decoding help on Chevy-Camaro.com
Was the seller advertising it as a "5.7"? Some mistakenly think an IROC means it has a 5.7, and some sellers don't always tell the truth, or don't know what they have.

It's a 5.7 car for sure vin is a 8 looks to have been converted to a manual they did a nice job of it Gonna look if can find engine casting numbers.
