Exclamation Just Bought a 1985 Iroc z28

I bought this ride for 300 bucks engine and all said there was some electrical issues so he parked it any ideas what i could do with this???? also its the 305 would i have to do a bunch of changes if i made it into a 383 stroker???

About the 305, you CAN NOT turn it into a 383. Reason the cast cylinder sidewalls are to thin.

Welcome to the Club,
Loosen engine, get her running, fix what's broke, and maybe drive her to learn more of her problems.
As said, not much to do with 305 CID other than exchange engine.

if its a solid car worth puting a crate engine in it thats what guys are doing with the 3rd gen cars 350 383 BBC of some kind can be done with a good th 350 or 400 transmission ,i think there a site that is all 3rd gen ,an there has to be many modified 3 gen cars there

It turns out it's the 350! I looked it up on carfax by vin and it's the 5.0 liter

yup 5.0 was the original ,from what i found is that the 84 pace cars offered the 350 engine in 85 there were 3 different versions of the 305 engine an the 350,did not come back till 87 for the iroc .so there may have been engine swap if its a 350 that made 225 hp, the 305 went from like 155hp to 190 hp 215hp as well as by 92 the 350 made 275 hp an that started a come back of cars with some real hp

If original engine, it's a 305 (5.0), the only V8 option for your year. Was available in 2 versions in the IROC, 190 or 215 hp.
