Default Idles rough

My 85 2.8 V6 is idling really rough, and now the check engine light is comming on. I have a pretty good idea that it is the fuel to air ration sensors, but I am not sure. Is there anything else that could be wrong?

Well I took it in today....... and I was right it was the TPS and now I have to get that replaced, and I also need a new alernater but I can do that myself. Do you know if its easy to do the TPS yourself, or should you have a proffessional do it?

TPS is pretty easy, but you shoul get a service manual to guide you, and you need a voltmeter to set it up properly.

I am assuming this is carburated. The TPS is in your carb. you'll need torx driver and a little mechanical ability because of the linkages. I would sugest replacing your alt and clearing the code then check to see if it comes back. Early computers as well as OBDII can give you false codes.
