Help with engine block #
I drive a 90 camaro rs 305. I'm trying to look for the block number, but I cannot find it anywhere. I have not removed anything from the engine or anything, so i havent gone that in depth.
But just looking at it with the hood open, I don't see it. I see some numbers behind the throttle body that is like 101049 all numbers so I don't thin kthis is it. I see the firing order numbers, thats not it.
Anyone have a good picture wehre this would be located on the engine in a similar year camaro?
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply camaro69, but i've seen this picture before and I believe it's a picture of a first gen engine and I can't tell if it is the passanger side i'm looking at or the driver side. Glad to see you are still helping people out Camaro69!
To me that picture looks like something was taken off to see that number and the valve cover still seems intact so I don't think I would need to remove the valve cover, however this is a 3rd gen engine it is a v8 and i Just cant find the numbers.
Here is a picture of my engine from the passenger side
and from the driver side

The generation of the engine and generation Camaro aren't related. You still have a Gen 1 engine. For reference, the Gen 2 small block started with the 1992 LT1 Corvette, but other non-LT1 engines of the same time (and newer) were still Gen 1. Now that that's outta the way....
The block casting info is on the bellhousing flange, buried in the back near the firewall and probably covered with years of gunk. The suffix code/assembly info is on a pad in front of the passenger side head, you need to move wires and crap out of the way.
