I have a 1986 Chevy Camaro and I am trying to find out what gear ratio I have.

Can anyone please tell me?

 

what transmission do you have.

 

Only way to be sure is to count the teeth on the ring and pinion gears and divide the pinion teeth into the ring teeth.
Even if the housing has the numbers on it they could have been changed.

 

For people that can't count just look for the ratio stamped on the od of the ring gear, then do the above math.

 

do you have an pro sheet in the center console or rear storage door? if so, list them all. if not, there are a few other ways. jack up the rear safely, and mark the driveshaft and tires. turn the driveshaft and count how many turns it takes to make one tire revolution. or, accel to 60mph in third gear if auto, 4th if 5 speed, and tell me your tire size and engine rpm (assuming the speedo and tach work)
