Correct offset and tire size for a 79Z
Mistake: title should read BACKSPACING instead of OFFSET
So: I got a set of used weld prostar rims for $600, all matching 15x8, with 5.5 back spacing.
My first question is simple, can I mount 235/60/r15 on these rims? for the front? My original plan was to go 255 front, 275 rear but I'm not interested in messing with my shock positioning or anything in the back so now I'm trying to go 235 front, 255 back.
Next: the offset, I want the rims to sit at a nice position that fills the wheel well, 5.5 is too much for the front on an 8" rim so I already know I need an adapter for that, my question is what size should I go with?
I was thinking 1.5" adapters front and back, that would give me 4" of backspace on the rims and, ideally, give the car that more aggressive wide tire base look.
Just wanted some info from you guys, I know this is a specific problem but hopefully one or two of you guys have some experience with this, it's my first hot rod project and first time trying to mount new rims
I guess the main question is, am I going to have any catastrophic failure from mounting these rims on the front, at 235-60-15 with a 4" backspace (with the help of a 1.5" adapter)

Hey guys, I have a matching set of weld prostars 15x8 rims with 5.5" backspacing.
I want to use these on my 79 camaro and am aware that the backspace is a touch too high, ideally I'd like to be at 4.5 backspace front and back.
I'm hoping to mount 235-60-15 in the front, and 255-60-15 (Maybe 275-60/50-15) In the back.
I was wondering, on summit they have these wheel spacers available that match my bolt pattern Cal Custom? Wheel Spacers CAL-75813 - Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing
Other then that, they only sell 1" Billets and you have the select the studs, nuts and lugs on your own.
Ive never done something like that before and although I doubt its too difficult, buying it as one is alot more simple.
But they add 1.25 of backspacing which would put me at 4.25
I was wondering if this is marginal and I should be ok? I know stock backspace is 4.5 and I don't mind the wider wheelbase look but I'm mostly focused on catastrophic failure.
