Yes Merry Christmas to everyone on here. Temperature was a balmy +3 here today. Took out the car again, I just love driving it, if I am not careful a stunting ticket is in my near future, those 315s feel more like 135s in the cold weather. (I actually had 135s in the front when I got the car back in 200)

Merry Christmas to you too, and everyone else here! We had a gorgeous day here yesterday too! Blue skies, and mid 50's, so I took the old Falcon out for a cruise! Seems I wasn't the only one out, as a guy in a blown '66 Fairlane came up next to me and wanted to play! Must not have had much boost in his 6-71 blower, because I wasn't too impressed when we both jumped on it and my normally aspirated Falcon's BBC walked away from his car. I couldn't see what the 6-71 was sitting on, as his hood hid the engine.

Beauty! Still haven't given anyone other then my buddies 4cyl turbo mustang a run. Next year when the snow melts me and a friend with a 650whp fox body are going to make a weekend trip to the track.

Its good, haven't done anything new to it since i got it running and tuned. Somehow I cracked the flaming river steering box, I have a new one on the way for the tune of around $700usd which sucks, but other then that its good.

I drive it with part of the headliner hanging down blowing in the wind, no carpet to speak of, wires all over the floor, and you know what, I still enjoy the **** out of it.

I still swear if I could have done it over again I would go LS based with a turbo.

clacia, did you pick a transmission for your car already? If not I know what I would get! There is a company building a six speed 4L80, that would be so nice to have.

Hey, nice to hear that. No I did not ordered the tranny. Still long time to go. I am busy installing the triangulated bracketry for the ridetech.

To be honest I am still concerned about transmission. TH400 is limited to ratios. When compared to my 85 Camaro since it's 5 speed manual, on the 4th gear I ma doing 60 kph at 1700 rpm. So when I see that I say, why do I need more gears other than 3? Do you know what I mean?

If choosing the 4L80, do I need to modify the transmission tunnel? Or standard will do.

They are making 4L80 that handle up to 600hp.

Which company are you referring at please?

Thanks

They are making a 4L80 that can handle 1200HP, I know because i bought it. Its the same guys that are building the six speed 4L80. 700R4, 700 Raptor Transmission from PATC, 700R4 4L60E 48RE 4L80E. I didn't have to modify my tunnel, just had to buy a 4L80 crossmember and mount for a second gen camaro. If you do go with a 572, the 4L80 should bolt right up.

I have the transmission they call the Quadzilla, and I had all of the possible upgrades installed in it. Check out the page they have a ton of options and the pricing is very reasonable.

Thanks for the info. Will consider it.
The 4L80 has 6 speeds?
What shifter do I need?
Does it have a manual valve body same as the TH400?
What rear ratio you have?

Thanks

The 4L80 did not come from the factory with 6 speeds, the place I bought mine from is custom making them. For my 4L80 I am using a B&M megashifter that I picked up 14 years ago and it works perfect for the manual valve body. It did take some getting used to when it comes to putting it in reverse and park from drive but its easy for me now. For the 6 speed 4L80 you would need a transmission controller.

As for valve bodies. A TH400 doesn't come with a manual valve body, it comes with an automatic one. I bought my 4L80 with an aftermarket manual shift valve body. Its not bad, but doing it over again i would have liked to have a 4L80E with the full electronics. Having the electronic valve body would make daily driving much more comfortable.

I have a 3.73:1 ford 9" rear end in mine and 315/35R17 tires on the back. Now that i know what kind of torque i have, i easily could have gotten away with a 3.50:1 or similar rear. I do rev pretty high on the highway. My thoughts are the same with the six speed, i would run a 3.50:1 3.42:1 depending on the make of your rear end, becase 6th gear is 0.75 which is the same as 4th gear in a 4L80.

The downfall is the price, the six speeds 4L80 and 6L80 are both close to $7000, where as my 4L80 was closer to $5000.
