I don't think Chevrolet officially approved any of the engine swaps done at the dealerships. The delaerships themselves covered warranty work, or specifically wrote a contract stating their own warranty, or lack of it.
Baldwin was a Chevy dealer who sold stock Chevys, but also did custom built cars. Some were done with specific changes to meet a "package" they sold, but they also did to customer request too. Baldwin did all sorts of Chevys, not just Camaros, Novas, and Chevelles. They also did some very exotic body mods for Corvette owners, along with their engine performance mods. The Baldwin/Motion Performance cars were very hot rides, and as fast as anything else at that time period.

Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
Question:- If I build a replica Baldwin camaro and say that I have a 454 BBC (or a 572) engine in it, will the camaro be classified as Classic? Or because it was not original with a factory engine, then it will not be classified as Classic?

Here in my country, classified as Classic means that engine installed in the car (A) should be as close to original as possible and reflect the age of the vehicle or (B) the engine is of the same-make, not original but similar in type and appearance ((≥30 years).

Now how is a BBC 572 classified? Is the 572 classified as (B) the engine is of the same-make, not original but similar in type and appearance ((≥30 years)

I think the issue might be this: (≥30 years) It's way over 30 years, so I'm unsure how your registration will work. It is similar in appearance, and if they are OK with that, it might pass anyway. Issue may be that the '78 did not ever come from Chevrolet with a BBC engine.

What about the 572 BBC? Is the 572 ≥30 years? Appearance is the same as a 454 yes?

No the 572 is not over 30 years old. Almost any BBC will look like the original 454, but since no '78 Camaros came with a BBC, then I'm not sure how your country's rules will look at the car? Since they came with a SBC 350, then none of the BBC engines will look like a SBC 350.

I see what you mean. I need to ask the authority about this. Thanks.

Just and update|:- The camaro is being blasted. Today started the soda blasting and tomorrow will be finished. After the soda blasting, straight to the paint shop for the Epoxy paint. Start looking good. Will post some pics later on.

As well yesterday some parts arrived from USA:- Magnaflow Mufflers S.S, Magnaflow X-pipes S.S, exhaust valves, Hotchkis subframe connectors, power window kit, central locking, door latch rebuild kit.

"exhaust valves"??? Doesn't your engine have exhaust valves in the heads? Or do you mean "exhaust cutouts"?

Wow, sorry exhaust cut outs!!

Today I brought the camaro from the soda blasting and straight to the paint shop. No more ugly blue colour and dirty camaro. Nice epoxy painting!!!

A big mile stone for me.

It would be tough to pass off a 78 as a 70 Baldwin in any country. Considering you cant even buy the side pipes anymore I would let that idea pass. I live and worked down the street from Berger here in MIchigan. They did the same swaps all the way to the 4th gens. Those guys drool over a by Berger emblem that I see 20x a day. Cobalts wear em!
