Watch out for clearance issues on some of those chrome trans covers. I've got one sitting here that I took off, as it rubs on the flexplate. Scared the heck out of me when I started the engine and heard the horrible screech!

Some detail work done...
Oil pan in House of Kolors Zenith Gold. This was a spur of the moment call after seeing Dale Walker's pics of his project car....
Decided to do my intake in House of Kolors BC02 Silver base color. This will also be used on the transmission housing..
And here we have the first viewing of the color to be used on the car.. This is the radiator support panel. The Chevy Heretics will be screaming at me here, but it has ALWAYS been my intention to do this car in Ford Grabber Blue...

That one yours? Lovely!
Some progress today.. Got the fuel tank put back together and put in a safe pace until it gets reunited again...
Also finished tearing out the wiring harness, interior air box, shifter, brake pedal, gas pedal, steering column, etc... I can start stripping all the gunk and old caulking out of the interior now and cleaning it up to prep for paint.
Stripped out the old brake lines, windshield wiper motor, fuel line to the rear of the car and pried the calipers off the spindles. I am not going to strip the stock suspension until I mock up the front sheet metal though, which will be soon. I am just waiting to get me block back so I can mount in in the body and place the heads and intake on it so I can check for clearance from the car to the hood. After that, the front end gets stripped down and subframe removed to prep.

Started on the transmission today. Pulled the pan and drained all fluid. Removed the modulator and kick down cable and then started prepping the casing....
The filter was dirty, but the fluid looked excellent. Probably because it was leaking like hell from the pump seal and I kept having to add fluid regularly. The pan is getting replaced with a polished aluminum pan.

Another item marked off the list now. The trans is done and ready to be set aside to wait for it's reunion with motor and car...
I decided to do it in raw cast aluminum color rather than the flashy House of Kolors paint..
AN fittings in place for the coolant lines. I will measure for the lines and fabricate them when I mock up the front end sheet metal.

Nice to have a good complete 8.5" ten bolt. They're a great axle, and with a few upgrades they're almost as strong as a 12 bolt. Might want to add a C clip eliminator kit also while you're building it, as that will get rid of the bearings running directly on the axle shafts. I love these axles, but always found that design of bearings running on the axle to be a stupid idea. Who wants to toss a good axle when a bearing eats the surface?
