Hood Pin Q and project moving along again
#11
When I look at it that location seems to be close to the edge of the hood (~ 2") If I follow the line back to about 4" there is nothing under that location. Someone who had it before me drilled a hole slightly back in the same support but it still seems to close.
I'm heading over today to help with the car a bit so I'll get some pictures.

If you look at the core support pictures of the Camaro you posted, you'll see a hole to the outside of where each support brace mounts to the core support. That's the hole I used when I had hood pins. I didn't have them after I had my Camaro painted, as I changed to the cowl hood and eliminated the pins.
Found this old picture from when it got bumped, before paint. The edge of the plate is about 3/4" back from the hood edge when mounted in the core support:

Thank for digging up that picture. I'll have to see next time I go over there.
Body is coming along. Here's where I am. Firewall getting smoothed over doors being hung and all panels getting shimmed next week.
The guy helping me says it's ready to be blocked soon. I'm thinking it's a track car - who cares? Told him I may hit a wall on the third run. LOL

If you measure from the center of the core support to the edge of the upper valance, you'll see exactly how far the hole will be from the edge of the hood. Measuring from the left or right edge of the hood will give you the center of the low part of the hood, and allow you to lay out if your core support has a hole, or needs a hole.

Vall, if you go back to his second post on the first page, where he showed he wanted the pins to be is about 4" back (give or take), where there is nothing below to mount to. That's why the different mounting alternatives were being thrown around.
