tire size for 17x8 wheels
I would like to know which is the largest size tire i can put on the back of my 68 camaro. I have 17x7 4" bs rims in front with 235-45-17 bridgestone potenzas on the front.
The rear wheels are 17x8 4.5 backspacing.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ted

i would not go bigger than 245's check out the tire rack site. they give you the industry standard for tire fit. you can go as wide as a tire will fit. tire performance goes south once you get by a certain width for a rim though

Have you seen the 48 Hour Camaro build? They are running 18x10 275s front and 18x12 335s rear with bolt on parts and mini-tubs. Check out the following link, it might give you some idea of what is possible these days.

Best Fitting Tires for 17x8 Wheel?
Greetings, I have a 2001 Acura CL Type-S. The stock rim and tire fitment is 17x7 with 215/50-17 tires. I recently purchased a set of 17x8 wheels. will the 215/50-17 fit the new wheels ? and if not what would be a better fitting tire ?

I have a 69 Camaro and have researched what will fit the 69. not sure if 67-68 are different but.. I was told with a 17x8 wheel in front with 4 3/4 BS you can fit a 245-45-17 and on the rear with a 17x9.5 wheel with 5.5 to 5 3/4 BS can fit a 275-40-17.. again this is a 69 Camaro and I believe they have slightly larger quarter panel and fender gaps for larger tires.. best to call a tire shop that can get in touch with someone that knows for sure.. that's what I did..

I just put on 17"x9" with 5" backspacing 275/40r17 BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2s on the rear.
And a 17"x8" with 4.5" backspacing 245/40r17 BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2s on the front.

I have a 67 Camaro with a BRP Hotrod rear shock relocator. Its fits right on the inside of the fender.
