Default '68 Camaro 572 BBC

Does any body know if a tall deck 572 BBC will fit into a '68 Camaro, and even better have any photos of such. Thanks, Zoom.

Should fit but you'll need a hood scoop or cowl induction hood, possibly taller than OEM. If it's a small block car you'll need a big block heater core if you want a heater, that goes for any small to big block 1st gen swap.

Thanks for that Y2K. I have a induction scoop in the bonnet now but if I need to make bigger that's ok. I plan to look at an after market heater/a-con unit anyway so will make a work around to suit, just didn't want to get the engine then find it wouldn't fit the engine bay etc.

Far as I know it's the same as a factory big block but has a taller deck, lot's of '68 SS models came with the 396 big block, same on the outside dimensionally as a 427 or 454.

Here's one plucked from the web.

I have a ZZ502 in my 68 the 572 is the same size. If you have power brakes and a 12 inch booster you will have to change to an 8 inch booster for valve cover clearance. I have a Edelbrock RPM Air Gap manifold with a nitrous plate and a 3 inch air cleaner and I had to go with a 4 inch cowl induction hood to clear the air cleaner.
