1968 RS/Z28 Production Numbers
Hi
I was wondering if anyone knew how many rs/z28's were made in 1968. Also how much would one be worth with a non numbers matching, but correct 302 motor?

To the best of my knowledge there is not combination information out there. You can find out how many Z28s are out there and how many RS but not how many RS/Z28s. Atleast not from hard facts from GM. If you find out differently let me know. I would love to know how many RS/SS rag tops where sold in 67. Look like there was just shy of 7200 Z28's sold and I have found estimates of 1200 to 2200 of them where RS/Z28.

Since it would not be a numbers matching car its true value would be directly related to its condition. But a true RS/Z28 with a real DZ 302 would still be worth 20K ish on the bottom of the scale and 60K ish as the car approched near perfect.

The 1968 received minor changes for its second year. The grill took on a more horizontal look while the vent windows were dropped and "Astro Ventilation" (i.e. flow-through ventilation) was added. Side marker lights were added while the SS396 received revised chromed hood inserts (the SS350s stayed with the 1967 styling). Underneath, the 1967 Camaros pesky axle tramp was cured by the addition of multi-leaf rear springs to replace the single-leaf units and rear shock absorbers were now staggered. A new 350bhp 396cid option for the SS was added, while the Z-28 option (now just labeled MO) actually received some publicity and sold 7,199 units. The Z-28s were now easier to spot as they sported Z-28 or 302 badges.

250 I6 155bhp @ 4200rpm, 235lb-ft @ 1600rpm.
(Z-28) 302 V8 290bhp @ 5800rpm, 290lb-ft @ 4200rpm
327V8 210bhp.
327 V8 275bhp.

(SS350) 350 V8 295bhp @ 4800rpm, 380lb-ft @ 3200rpm.
(SS396) 396 V8 325bhp @ 4800rpm, 410lb-ft @ 3200rpm.

the 68 Z/28 would be a MO 302 Not a dz like in 69 and it would all hinge on documentation with out it its not worth more than any other plane jane 68!! with paper trail and factory build sheet in excess of 40g to god knows what 125g maybee???

Really, a 1968 Z28 with a numbers correct 302 for 5K? Rusted shell I6's would sell for 4-5K around me as long as it was a complete car. Heck a few years ago just the cowl tag /Vin number and title would have sold for $7500 for a real Z28. I admit I have never done much research on Z28's like I have the SS's but I would think a stock SB block that can push 500 HP with factory parts would do well.

nothing in a cowl tag or vin or title on a 68 camaro identifies it as being a z/28 only a protecto plate or build sheet would prove it to be an original z/28
so if someone paid 7500 for those items they more than likely got ripped off!!??
with all the restamps and fraudulant paper work (fake build sheets)out there now i would never buy a 68 z without documentation back to the original owner..

notice in 68 z/28s had no cowl hood and only a (z/28) fender badge on each side to identify it as such, notice no price and was auctioned and LOADS OF DOCUMENTATION

this one the block was decked so the MO code is gone and no way to prove it was original motor or not!!??? i would guess this is a clone as the only paper work looks to be some build work on the car made by the owner!!
