Manual to Auto swap!! (help)
Hello Camaro forums!
I want to swap my 67's 4 speed manual transmission to either a Th350 or Th400.
How hard would this be?
Any special parts or things I should look out for?
There are a ton of auto to manual swaps, but I can't find too much information for a manual to auto.
Any help would be appreciated.

Lol, yeah, that's what I was thinking.
Gf can't drive stick, and I haven't owned an auto since my first car '70 el camino so it'll be fun going back.
Also, not yet. I was checking how much it would set me back before I got the console.
If I provide the parts but don't do labor, are you thinking about 3 grand or more?
Thanks!

Many years ago, I converted my first 69 from automatic to manual, and that's more involved than going manual to automatic.
"Gf can't drive stick".... I see that as a big plus! lol
My wife says "your car is stupid, I'll never drive that thing". My response: "and the down side is"?

I would suggest you try to find someone that wants to go from auto to manual and swap parts with them, and there are people that would do this with you. This would reduce your parts cost to zero. Heck, someone interested in going to a stick might be willing to help with the work. As others stated before, most people swap from auto to standard, not the other way around.
If you have a big block, get a T400. If you have a small block, get a T350. That way you dont have to change your frame or transmission mounts.
If you were happy with your engine rpm's at various mph's before, then don't bother with the overdrive. Automatic OD's add expense and none are really a direct bolt in.
You need a radiator for an automatic. AT's use the radiator to cool the transmission fluid.
Keep your existing pedals. The clutch pedal will no longer work, but there's really no need to remove it.
You'll need the entire horseshoe shifter assembly, cable, and T350 kickdown. All readily available on the net.
If you already have a console, you just need to change the shift plate. If you dont have one, you'll want one because it will look naked without it. You'll also need the console wiring harness.
The speedo cable should work without mod, but if it doesn't, just get the correct length one.
Good luck.
