Yeah I was thinking about the cost to stick with the current rear setup vs the difference to go 4 link right away. I don't wanna waste my budget.

About the IF's..I don't even know if they're regular or RS. We picked them up at least 10 years ago from the local ad trader. They just had a piece of tape that said "68 Camero"..LOL. They're definitely Camaro IF's, but for all I know they could be RS. They look like NOS. I'll look at some online and compare. I really do like the RS look but that's something that we'll have to decide on based on cost.

I guess unless I stumble onto a really good deal on a tranny we'll probably pass on the manual conversion. I do know of a guy who has some parts and told me he had 3 rock crushers, but I've asked him a couple times about selling parts and he says he will but never gets back to me.

I really appreciate all the advice thus far. You've got me thinking about stuff I need to be thinking about.

I am just giving ideas of things I wish someone had told me about. I think now is the time to create a plan and then work the plan. It may take longer to get done but will ultimately cost you less.. The old saying nobody ever plans to fail, they just fail to plan..

Definitely. I'm working on the plan now. I've got most of the stuff on my list priced. So far I'm at 4k without the 4 link, or maybe 5,500 with it. Still working through some things then gonna run it by my dad and we'll probably take an inventory soon and look through the assembly manual. Luckily, if we can get this thing in for paint and body work, we'll be able to plan more and get aprts ordered while it's in the body shop. That'll also give us time to look for as much gently used stuff through craigslist, etc, to save a few bucks here and there.

welllllll....hasn't changed much. I forget what happened but it got delayed. My dad did retire but people started calling right and left with jobs for him to do. He's a very handy guy. I suppose that's mostly what got us off track. He's finally settled in to working with a friend 4-5 days a week, coincidentally, restoring old old old cars. BUT..he got his fire back for the Camaro and just picked up new fenders and got a body and paint estimate. I think it's probably gonna be around 7k. We'll see how it goes. I think he has a lot more confidence in his restoration skills now. I the meantime, I bought a new mustang gt back in the spring, which has been an absolute blast to drive.
